My perception of 'extra holiday'

WHY I LIKE AN EXTRA HOLIDAY

Recreation seems to be synonymous to Holiday.Yes, the very first idea is that everything can be done in a leisurely manner. Everyone feels good by the end of Friday evening and when it comes to having an extra holiday the feeling is still more great. This has to be experienced to be understood. I am sure the workaholics can never agree with me.

An extra holiday gives me a chance to finish the various chores that has been kept pending and postponing. These chores are so many in number that the regular weekend is insufficient.

Playing a multiple role of a housewife, a mother of two lovely angels and a teacher in a nearby school, I would love to get an extra holiday.I would like to remind you of an advertisement in the newspaper recently. It says
“ A day in your life”. Wake up, eat, go to work, eat, work, eat, work, go home, watch TV, eat, sleep, snore………….

I feel this is what most of us do in a city like Bombay. But when I get an extra holiday, I would select a solitary atmosphere, wake up to the invigorating freshness of nature, inhale, walk by the lonely road, work out a few exercises to feel fit, play chess, watch a classic movie, stroll in the moonlit garden, sleep and dream. But I know this is not always possible. If I am at home on an extra holiday I know I need not rush out of my bed early in the morning to make rotis and sabzi. Instead I can just curl up into a tight ball and doze off for the next few hours. My husband being a connoisseur of vegetarian food, I get ample time to flip through the pages of various recipe books and bring out the best. Many times the letter I start writing to my mother has to be chronologically dated and posted at a later date. The extra holiday enables us to plan for an outing with the children to the zoo or to a picnic spot or to a relative’s house who had put up a long face that our visit is over due. It also helps me to set right the pandemonium in my children’s room to arrange their wardrobe only to be shuffled in the next few days. The extra holiday makes me think about the store room which has been a place to hide all unsightly things.
In spite of these tiresome jobs, I am sure, I will find time to browse through the old albums and cherish those nostalgic moments of life for you live life again when you go through the photographs of the past.

Thus an extra holiday, gives you enough time to do all those things you would have wanted to spend more time.

THIS WAS AN ARTICLE PRESENTED BY ME IN THE YEAR 1998 WHEN MY DAUGHTER'S SCHOOL HAD A COMPETITION FOR PARENTS. I GOT THE FIRST PRIZE OF RS.500 CASH!!!!!!!!!!!. PROBABLY MY FIRST 'POST' WHEN BLOGS WERE NOT THERE!!!!
